When you are visiting Nîmes on a hot summer day, stopping at a shady terrace for an ice cream is very tempting. But please don’t stop anywhere (and don’t just eat any old industrial ice lolly). Nîmes has so much better to offer!
Here is the address of a lovely old fashioned patisserie in the center of Nîmes that makes its own artisanal ice creams. Maison Courtois was established in Nîmes in 1850 and is well known by the locals. Try for instance Courtois’ home made stracciatella with caramel (and a hint of Camargue salt) or their very local “calisson” ice cream. You may instead be tempted by one of Maison Courtois’ fabulous cakes. Once you’ve made up your mind, just sit next to the crocodile fountain and enjoy !!!
